Is There A Time Limit To File My Florida Car Accident Lawsuit?

The state of Florida has very strict time limits within which to bring a lawsuit if you’re injured as a result of a car accident. The most basic and most common of those limits is a four year statute of limitations, which arises from the date of the accident. However, there are a couple of exceptions that you must be aware of. If a claim is made under your uninsured or under-insured motorist coverage, the statute is five years, and importantly, if the claim results in a death to someone, under the Florida Wrongful Death statute, the statute of limitations is shortened to two years, so people should be aware of those dates.
