Legally, you’re allowed to handle your Florida auto case without an attorney, but practically, it’s not a very good idea. The first person you’re going to come in contact with if you attempt to do that is going to be an adjuster if the other side had insurance coverage. That insurance adjuster is a well trained, very educated individual, very knowledgeable in insurance claims and adjusting, and especially in trying to minimize the amount of money he pays out to the injured part. I don’t know any insurance adjuster in this state who’s going to get a bonus for paying out the most amount of money to injured people upon which he’s adjusting their claims. Therefore, it’s a very, very good idea that you not attempt to settle these cases or even contact the adverse insurance company without first contacting an attorney to represent you.
