If someone causes an accident wherein someone else is injured and the person who caused the accident does not have insurance, it means that the person who was injured could still bring a claim against him. If the claim against him is brought personally, the person who caused the accident would be liable up to the amount of damages assessed against him. However, if the person whose injured has uninsured motorist coverage, that person would be able to make an uninsured motorist claim against his own coverage and collect for his damages under that policy.
