What Are The Limits On The Ability To Collect Under An Uninsured Underinsured Motorist Provision?

If you have uninsured and/or underinsured motorist coverage in Florida, you’re generally able to collect up to the amount of your policy limits which you’ve taken out. Therefore, you could have $10,000, $100,000, or even $1,000,000 coverage, and depending on which coverage you purchased, you’d be able to collect up to that amount.
However, you should also be aware that in the state of Florida, if you live with a family member who also has that type of uninsured and/or underinsured motorist coverage, you may be able, and in many times are able, to stack that coverage on top of yours, and therefore get double, sometimes, the amount of coverage, or even more. In other words, if you have $10,000 coverage, and a family member has $100,000 coverage, you could get up to $110,000 coverage if the case determines that the coverage is stackable.
